Okopidos: A’Ibom APC inaugurates 32-man burial c’ttee

A 32-member committee has been set up by Akwa Ibom state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to oversee the burial of its late State Chairman, Hon Iniobong Titus Okopido who died last August 5 after a brief illness and his elder brother, and former minister, late Dr. Ime Okopido.
The committee which is chaired by the former senatorial candidate of the party, Chief Inibehe Okori, also includes Engr. Akanimo Edet Deputy Chairman, Sir. Cosmas Ibanga, Secretary, Dr. Amadu Attai, Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Hon. Godwin Afangideh, Mr. Augustine Ekanem, Chief Sunny Ibanga, Bishop Ekpe James, Prince Perry Ntuk, Rt. Hon. Uwem Udoma, Barr. Chris Okorie, Hon. Gabriel Toby, Sir Dr. Inyang Abia, Mr. Sunny Okopido and Barr. Edet Ikotidem.
Others are Chief Ita Awak, Dr. Nduehe Esitikot, Mrs. Ekaette Isong, Abom Ephraim Okon, Mr. Gabriel Etukudoh, Obong Inemesit, Dr. David Essien, Rt. Hon. Aboh Uduyok, Elder Imoh Ukpe, Mr. Steve Ntukekpo, Dr. (Mrs.) Roseline Harry, Mr. Nkereuwem Enyongekere, Hon. (Mrs.) Nkoyo Ulo, Mr. Friday Michael, Mr. Christopher Ekong and Engr. Saviour Williams.
This reporter learnt that the committee which was set up after SWC meeting of the party will among other things, liaise with the family of the late Okopido to accord the late APC chieftain and the former minister, a befitting burial.
It was gathered that the remains of both the late APC State Chairman and the late elderly brother will be buried on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in their hometown, Ikot Akpan Anwa village in Ika LGA.
The Ag. State Chairman of the party, Dr. Ita Udosen while inaugurating the burial committee Tuesday commiserated with the Okopido family in particular and the entire APC family over the death of the late state chairman and the late former minister.
Dr. Udosen said that the late Okopidos during their life time stood for uprightness, equity, fairness and justice in his interaction with their fellow men.
Dr Udosen noted that their death was not only a blow to the state chapter of the party, but also a great loss to the APC family and urged all its members to hold fast to the ideals which they stood for.
Similarly, the Deputy Chairman of the Burial Committee, Engr. Akanimo Edet in his remarks on behalf of the committee members, said the two brothers died at a time when their political services as chairman of the APC and former minister was most needed and crucial.
According to him, the sudden death of our Chairman will continue to be fresh in our memories not only because we share the same ideological ideals, but also for the fact that he was a person who was always ready to identify with people in the hours of need.
He thanked the party for inaugurating the committee and promised to work collectively to ensure the late state chairman and the former minister were given befitting burial.
